Kyphoplasty
Meet Dr. Daniel Stackhouse
Dr. Daniel Stackhouse and Dr. Jeffery Stein are experts in Kyphoplasty, a procedure for patients with compression fractures. Our fellowship trained interventional radiologists have special training in wide spectrum of vascular and interventional radiology procedures.
What is Kyphoplasty?
A minimally invasive image guided procedure to treat vertebral compression fractures.
How is the procedure performed?
Patients are given mild sedation through an IV inserted in the arm during the procedure. An interventional radiologist makes an incision near the compression fracture. A tube is placed into the vertebral body. A balloon tamp is then passed down the tube and then the balloon is inflated to restore the height of the vertebral body. Once the vertebrae has regained height a special cement injected into the space and the tube removed creating permanent support for the vertebrae.
Which locations offer Kyphoplasty?
How can I schedule an exam?
Our interventional radiologists offer the full spectrum of care including pre-procedure consultation, post-procedure care and when necessary, hospital admission. All patients can schedule an office visit to consult with a radiologist to discuss vascular options prior to performing any procedure. To schedule an appointment in Mecklenburg County, please call 704-355-3604, for Cabarrus County, please call 704-786-0052, and for Union County, please call 704-283-3373.
