Subspecialties
Dr. Chen is a board-certified Vascular and Interventional Radiologist, who specializes in minimally invasive treatments for liver and kidney cancers, vertebral compression fractures, venous insufficiency/varicose veins, uterine fibroids, and benign prostatic hyperplasia. He is an expert in treatment of lymphatic duct injury/leaks, previously having trained at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) with pioneers in advanced lymphatic interventions. Dr. Chen developed an interest in clinical research while at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where he spent a year as a Doris Duke Clinical Research fellow. He continued to pursue research at UPenn, helping to design clinical trials and perform outcomes studies on IR treatments for liver and kidney cancer, and was awarded the Cook/Cope Research Award for his contributions. At Charlotte Radiology, Dr. Chen is chair of the research committee and is actively involved in global multicenter clinical trials including studies on novel embolization agents and devices. He strives to deliver patient-centered, individualized care, and feels privileged to help each patient achieve their best health outcome.
