Procedures Offered

Computed Tomography (CT)Expand

Computed Tomography (CT) CT is a noninvasive test that’s able to generate internal images of the body to help physicians accurately diagnose – or rule out – injuries or diseases. CT is often used to determine the cause of unexplained pain, dizziness or shortness of breath, or to further evaluate areas of interest found in […]

Calcium ScoringExpand

Calcium Scoring Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) is the #1 killer of men and women in the United States. And it can remain completely asymptomatic for decades. Fortunately, a 10-minute noninvasive Calcium Scoring screening exam uses CT technology to detect the amount of calcified (hardened) plaque in your coronary arteries – and determine your risk for […]

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)Expand

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) MRI uses a powerful magnetic field, radio waves and computers to produce detailed images of the body’s internal structures. It’s a safe way for doctors to get an inside look at the body’s bones, organs and tissues – without using radiation. It may be used to help diagnose or monitor treatment […]

UltrasoundExpand

General Ultrasound Ultrasound produces images of soft tissue and organs in the body by using sound waves that generate a real-time image. Ultrasound can detect diseased or damaged tissues, locate abnormal growths and identify a wide variety of conditions, enabling your radiologist to make a quick and accurate diagnosis. Ultrasound uses a transducer (wand-shaped device) […]

X-rayExpand

X-Ray X-rays, or radiographs, are the oldest and most commonly used form of medical imaging. During an X-ray, X-ray beams pass through the body to create images of the body’s internal structures, helping physicians to diagnose and treat medical conditions. X-ray beams pass through the body to create black, white and gray photos. Dense materials […]

DEXA Bone Density ScanExpand

DEXA, or Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry, is an imaging technology used to evaluate bone density to determine risk for osteoporosis. Osteoporosis, or low bone density, increases the chance of fractures from even the most minor falls and stresses. DEXA scans are safe, painless and take about 15 minutes. For your convenience, DEXA screenings can be scheduled during your mammogram appointment at select Charlotte Radiology breast center locations.

3D Screening MammographyExpand

Annual 3D screening mammography is the standard of care at Charlotte Radiology. Also referred to as digital breast tomosynthesis or “tomo,” 3D mammography offers better image quality and greater accuracy in detecting breast concerns at an early stage – and at a lower radiation dose. Annual 3D screening is now integrated with ProFound® AI - an FDA-cleared technology that facilitates early detection of breast cancers including those that are more difficult to find. This advanced technology provides additional information for our breast imaging experts to interpret your mammogram. Our board-certified, subspecialized radiologists read every image – incorporating AI input as well as comparing your current images to those available from your prior mammograms – to deliver precise, personalized results. The radiologist will include their clinical findings, including breast density and any follow-up recommendations, in your report. Charlotte Radiology is the first in the area to offer this advanced AI technology to all annual screening and diagnostic patients at no additional cost; most insurances cover annual screening mammograms 100%.
